The Alzheimer’s Disease Caregivers’ Army has launched a worldwide petition drive in support of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, AD Caregivers and their loved ones suffering from this terrible disease.

Researching the cause and cure of this disease offers our best hope. In recent years, research has yielded important discoveries. Researchers say they are close to finding ways to slow Alzheimer’s in its developing stages. The genes associated with the disease have been identified. And new drugs and other substances may work to slow its progression. Much more needs to be done. We must do all we can to stop this terrible disease.

The project involves 3 main people – Carolyn Haynali a caregiver who is working hard on the project, the originator of the petition, Marcia Klaas, and Laura Smith, the creator of the Web Site, The Caregivers’ Army.

Please circulate the petition through your home health, support group, doctors office , nursing home or facility and online to wherever you deem it appropriate.

For more information, you can go to Carolyn’s Caregivers’ Army web site

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) Petition
Dateline: 10/1/99

The Alzheimer’s Disease Caregivers’ Army has launched a worldwide petition drive in support of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, AD Caregivers and their loved ones suffering from this terrible disease. Researching the cause and cure of this disease offers our best hope.

In recent years, research has yielded important discoveries. Researchers say they are close to finding ways to slow Alzheimer’s in its developing stages. The genes associated with the disease have been identified. And new drugs and other substances may work to slow its progression. Much more needs to be done. We must do all that we can to stop this terrible disease.

Advances in medical research may help slow its wicked progression and let more people live their golden years in dignity. That’s why we are working to secure $500 million funding for Alzheimer’s research.

The goal is to collect 1 million or more signatures by mid-September 2000. The signatures will then be presented to Congress in Washington, DC, showing Congress that AD Caregivers and their loved ones have huge public support for more recognition.

Who can sign? Anyone and everyone! That includes kids, people not registered to vote, non-American citizens – anyone! A person doesn’t even need to “sign” the petition. As long as they say it’s OK, you can add their name to it. That way you can even collect names by telephone, fax or email!

You can sign the petition online http://www.caregiversarmy.com, and you can print a copy of the petition from the Caregivers’ Army website at: http://www.caregiversarmy.com

If you are signing online please provide your email address beside your name. The Army can also send you multiple copies of the petition form if you send them your address @ Caregivers’ Army, P.O. Box 64, Berlin Center, Ohio 44401 and a self-addressed, stamped envelope

We have 1 year to collect signatures. They are due by September 15, 2000. A representative of the Caregivers’ Army will then take your signatures to Congress.

Please be sure and pass this on to a friend. I for one want to see future generations not having to worry about Alzheimer’s disease.

Thanks so much,
Spokesperson for Caregivers’ Army
Carolyn Haynali
