{"id":3167,"date":"2004-02-11T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-02-11T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/care-givers.com\/articles\/empowering-affirmation\/"},"modified":"2021-08-17T10:47:27","modified_gmt":"2021-08-17T14:47:27","slug":"empowering-affirmation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/care-givers.com\/articles\/empowering-affirmation\/","title":{"rendered":"Empowering Affirmation\u00a9"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\"><p><b>You Can Benefit from &#8220;Negative&#8221; Self-talk<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Negative&#8221; self-talk is destructive when you allow it to use you; however, it can be most constructive when you use \u201cit\u201d mindfully. Your self-talk is not to be feared, nor fought. It is a call for your attention. Use your self-talk to obtain valuable information. This will increase your awareness of the beliefs you are carrying enabling you to create new beliefs in alignment with your intentions.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the framework&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>Empowering Affirmations\u00a9<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Write down precisely what you are saying to yourself<\/li>\n<li>Make a note of how this self-talk makes you feel<\/li>\n<li>Drop the label \u201cnegative\u201d from your self-talk and appraise it as valuable information<\/li>\n<li>Ask yourself, \u201cWhat beliefs are underlying my self-talk?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>As you begin to identify beliefs, you will begin to hear a conversation between two inner voices; a &#8220;fearful disempowering voice&#8221; and a &#8220;loving affirming voice&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>This conversation between the \u201ctwo voices\u201d will often identify other beliefs so continue to write down this valuable information<\/li>\n<li>Use this data to create Empowering Affirmations<\/li>\n<li>Out of habit, the \u201cold\u201d self-talk may show up. Use Mental Principle #8 <a href=\"https:\/\/care-givers.com\/articles\/the-top-ten-mental-principles-for-evoking-your-greatness\/\">Cancel and Replace technique <\/a>to interrupt the old patterns and establish the new mindfully created Empowering Affirmations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Example&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Step 1 \u2013 I write down precisely what I am saying to myself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I just can\u2019t move forward in cultivating my coaching practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 2 \u2013 This is how I am feeling as I hear this self-talk:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I feel tight, foggy, tense, and tired, frustrated and sad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 3 \u2013 I mindfully drop the label \u201cnegative\u201d from my self-talk:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This self-talk offers me an opportunity to gain volumes of valuable information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 4 \u2013 What beliefs are underlying my self-talk?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;m not good enough<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t know enough<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 5 \u2013 I hear my fearful voice affirming:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I might hurt someone<\/li>\n<li>I may disappoint myself<\/li>\n<li>What if I\u2019m no good at this!?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I hear my loving voice affirming:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I do have many skills<\/li>\n<li>I do have many resources, trusted associates, professional materials etc.<\/li>\n<li>I have a passion for people and love to support them<\/li>\n<li>I will attract those who are ready to receive my support at my present level of development<\/li>\n<li>Supporting these people with enable me to gain experience and become a better and better coach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My fearful voice affirms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successes may have backlashes<\/li>\n<li>If I am successful I may lose friends, intimidate others, I might be judged<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 6 \u2013 I see how I am carrying other beliefs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Success means I may lose something<\/li>\n<li>I am concerned with how others view me<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My loving voice affirms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many people need and want what I have to offer<\/li>\n<li>This is about a loving intention to share my gifts and skills with others<\/li>\n<li>I owe it to myself, and others, to have an experience<\/li>\n<li>I want to move from \u201cHow am I doing?\u201d to \u201cHow can I help?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 7 \u2013 Create Empowering Affirmations<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I am enjoying the process of building my coaching practice<\/li>\n<li>My love and passion for people attracts me into action and attracts people to me<\/li>\n<li>Lives are enhanced as I apply my God given talents and bring rich resources to my practice members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 8 \u2013 Cancel &amp; Replace Techniques<\/p>\n<p>Whenever old self-talk shows up, I apply the Cancel &amp; Replace Technique. I interrupt the old self-talk and replace it with my Empowering Affirmations.
